The English Football Association is leading an international effort to stop Sepp Blatter being re-elected unopposed as president of football's world governing body FIFA. The English FA said the election should be postponed to give credibility to the process and to allow an alternative reforming candidate to stand. And they called on other countries to follow their lead. The FA had previously said they will abstain from tomorrow’s vote because of FIFA's lack of transparency and the allegations of corruption against some of its senior figures and they said the last few days had reinforced their views. But unless the FA can convince more than 150 of their fellow members to back them, the elections will continue and Sepp Blatter will be voted in for a fourth term.
