Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (ESPY) Awards 2010

The full name of the ESPY awards is a mouthful but ESPN has been putting on the ESPY awards since 1993 to celebrate, guess what? ESPN. The popular sports channel clearly needs an awards show where it celebrate itself and those great televised sports moments and the fact it fits into a night when no other professional sports games are being shown is a good thing too.

Since 2002, the ceremony has been conducted on the Wednesday in July following the Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game; as none of the major North American professional leagues have games scheduled for that day—the National Basketball Association, National Football League, and National Hockey League are not in-season, and MLB does not contest games on the day following its all-star game—major sports figures are available to attend. The show is aired on the subsequent Sunday four days later, although the results are announced on ESPN.com and thereafter across media outlets immediately after taping is complete. For the first time since 2003 the ESPY Awards will be televised live on ESPN, July 14, 2010

The ESPY Awards also give out awards with the winners being selected by online fan voting. Categories include; Best Championship Performance, Best Upset, Best Game, Best Moment,

The ESPY Awards for 2010 is being hosted Seth Myers and gaggle of sports and Hollywood celebrities.

Best Championship perforamance, no doubt would be Tracy Porter pick six against the Indianapolis Colts, Best Upset would be New Orleans Saints Vs. Indianapolis Colts, best game is New Orleans Saints vs. Minnesota, best moment is the Saints fans on Bourbon Street after Garret Hartley kicked the game winning field goal to go to the Superbowl(I'm getting chills just thinking about it)
