Switzerland faces the Czech Republic, and Portugal squares off against Turkey for the UEFA 2008 openers in Basel. Euro 2008 is to be played out at stadiums in Switzerland and Austria, with the final taking place on June 29.
It is open to teams finishing in leading positions behind the champions in their domestic top flights, the winners of national cup competitions, the winners of the League Cup in certain countries, the eleven winners of the final matches in the UEFA Intertoto Cup, and three clubs from UEFA's Fair Play League.
I remember being in London during Euro 2000- the riot police were standing by in Trafalgar Square in case England lost to Germany!

Spain-USA (1-0) in Santander (north of Spain) was the last match of Spain before the Euro. Xavi (FC Barcelona) was the scorer and Spain didn´t play a good match. We hope against Russia is another story.

Scotland fans just knew the team could - on the day - beat the mighty Italians... but it wasn't to be.

Well done Spain for winning a great tournament.
