Italy's campaign is hanging by a thread, with Romania missing a penalty late in the 2nd half. Holland can qualify with a win against France next.

1852: FULL-TIME Italy 1-1 Romania

1851: Romania on the counter-attack and Cosmin Contra is halted by a brilliant challenge from Daniele de Rossi. The ref doesn't see it that way though and gives Romania the free-kick and De Rossi a yellow card. Of course, the free-kick is fairly hopeless. Into added time.

1849: The Italians seem to have resorted to falling over every time the ball comes into the area. Fabio Quagliarella is the latest to try it - but he's been flagged offside from Luca Toni's header down anyway.

1847: Adrian Mutu goes off, looking as massively disappointed as you would expect. Razvan Cocis is the man to replace him.

1846: Luca Toni tumbles in the area under a challenge from Dorin Goian but the ref waves away his penalty appeal.

1839: PENALTY SAVE
Incredible drama. Italy's Christian Panucci for hauling down Daniel Niculae. The Italians are absolutely incredulous. It's a decision much like the one Austria won against Poland last night. But Gianluigi Buffon may just have saved his country from utter humiliation by brilliantly saving Adrian Mutu's spot-kick. He goes the right way and just manages to stick a leg up to keep it out.
