F1 Racer Lewis Hamilton apologizes for lie
F1 racer, Lewis Hamilton apologized for misleading and lying to race stewards at the Australian Grand Prix. However, his "huge mistake" was an order by Dave Ryan, the sporting director of McLaren. Hamilton was stripped of his third place finish in the season-opener when he "deliberately mislead" racing officials investigating the event of the Australian Grand Prix.
The controversy began when the FIA found out Ryan told Hamilton to slow down deliberately to let Trulli through which will penalize him 25 seconds for overtaking a racer while the yellow-flag is out. With Hamilton slowing down drastically, Trulli had the option to either stop completely or pass Hamilton. He chose to pass which landed him with a 25 second penalty.
"He's a good guy. When I went into the meeting, I had no intention (to lie). I just wanted to tell my story and see what happened. I was misled and that's just how it went."
Hamilton's mood would scarcely have improved after Friday's opening practice sessions in Sepang where his McLaren again struggled for pace.
Ryan has been sent home by McLaren from Malaysia where the second round of the championship is taking place this weekend.
Hamilton stated "I am not a liar" and he only lied under the orders of Dave Ryan.
