Fans pack Manhattan streets for Giants parade
The Giants won the Super Bowl and had the parade to prove it.
For many fans, Super Tuesday voting had to wait until they got their fill of football glory parading down Manhattan streets. It was a confetti-filled affair, since the city supplied half a ton of the stuff.
Any paraders out there? Let us know what you thought of the celebrations.
It rained. First, droplets. Then, streams of confetti. The first didn't stop millions of New York Giants fans who stormed lower Manhattan Tuesday to cheer on the Super Bowl Champions. The latter marked the joy and celebration, a wondrous, historic moment as Giants were honored with a ticker-tape parade down the legendary "Canyon of Heroes" -- honored after having beaten the previously undefeated New England Patriots, 17-14. Sunday in Super Bowl XLII.
One banner read: "18 Wins, But One Giant Loss!"
The celebration began at 11 a.m., with the route winding from its starting place at Battery Park, up Broadway to Chambers Street and then on to City Hall, where Mayor Michael Bloomberg was to present the players and coach Tom Coughlin with keys to the city in ceremonies at 1 p.m.
One of the parade floats carried Giants quarterback Eli Manning, the Super Bowl most valuable player, as well as Coughlin, Bloomberg, Michael Strahan and Michael Tyree. Manning held aloft the Lombardi Trophy, awarded to Super Bowl champions. He later handed it to Strahan. Everyone on the float was beaming, as fans screamed and waved -- and confetti fell.

My office is located at 11 Broadway right where the parade started. We were very close. I have never seen something like this before. There were tons of paper flying everywhere. It was awesome

The streets were packed, but also crowded were the windows of the office buildings (like the one where I work) that line Broadway.
While some workers threw confetti and shredded documents out windows, a few threw whole sheets of paper.
