A big blow for the Scottish club, no European football for them this year, with no Uefa cup parachute in this round, they will lose a significant amount of money from this, a total contrast to the Uefa Cup final they reached last season. Rangers made the mistake of playing for the draw, and got caught out by the Lithuanians four minutes from the end.

A goal four minutes from time by Linas Pilibaitis gave Kaunas a dramatic victory over Rangers, leaving the Ibrox side out of European competition.

Kevin Thomson put Rangers ahead in the 33rd minute when he collected a Nacho Novo pass inside the box and fired past Kaunas goalkeeper Marian Kello.
