Federer beats Murray at U.S. Open final
Roger Federer became the first man in nearly a century to win five consecutive U.S. Open titles when he beat 21 year-old Brit Andy Murray in today's final match in New York. Now Federer is poised to beat Pete Sampras's record of 14 grand slam wins, with only two more to go.
``One thing's for sure, I'm not going to stop at 13,'' Federer said in a courtside televised interview. ``That would be terrible.''
Federer took the first set in 27 minutes, winning the final four games and breaking Murray's serve twice.
Federer was moving better in the first set, coming off a day of rest yesterday while Murray had to complete his semifinal win over Rafael Nadal. Through the first six matches, Federer spent almost 3 1/2 fewer hours on court than the 21-year-old Murray, who was playing in his first Grand Slam final.
Federer beat Murray in an easy win of 6-2, 7-5, 6-2, keeping alive his winning streak of taking at least one of the four major tennis titles every year since 2002.

I just hope he'll eventually win that French Open title.

It's a shame Murray didn't win - such a long time since a Brit won a major tennis tournament!
