Felipe Massa has been downgraded to satisfactory condition following his surgery.

Previous reporting:

Ferrai's Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa is in "serious, life-threatening, but stable" condition following skull fracture surgery earlier today. 

He underwent surgery earlier today after being hit in the head by a part from another car at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Massa is 28-years-old.

Massa suffered a head injury after a part from the car of Brazilian driver Rubens Barrichello struck his helmet. He was brought to the track's medical centre, then taken by helicopter to Honved Hospital in Budapest.
