Film Captures Story About Couple Who Ran 25,000 Miles Around World in 5 Years

LOS ANGELES, CA—"Beyond the Epic Run" is the inspiring true story of ultra runner, Serge, and his wife Nicole Roetheli, who sold all of their belongings to run more than 25,000 miles around the world in five years. By utilizing social media, the film's blog, www.beyondtheepicrunblog.com, illustrates the couple's experiences and examples of how endurance sport athletes overcome their challenges. The couple began their challenge in February 2000. Over the next five years, athlete Serge ran across six continents through 37 countries with his wife, Nicole, acting as sole crew support, following behind him on a small motorcycle and filming every aspect of his epic ultra run.

According to Serge, he ran to be free, to help suffering children on different parts of the globe and to experience a monumental journey. "I hope that people will take away from the film that nothing is impossible as long as you are willing to the pay the price for your dream," he said.

Dean Karnazes, ultramarathon man, when interviewed as part of the film about Serge's feat, stated, "When you are running around the world there is no course to follow, no road maps leading the way. To me it is very motivating. What a great adventure exploring the unknown."

"Beyond the Epic Run" is a feature length documentary reality film about a Swiss couple who live their dream to run around the world. Together, Serge and Nicole Roetheli leave on an epic adventure that leads them out of Europe, through Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the United States, testing their boundaries, strengthening their minds and challenging their bodies. Running the equivalent of a marathon every other day, Serge, the endurance sports runner, runs more than 25,400 miles in five years, while wife Nicole rides her Yamaha motorcycle. Using their personal camera they capture the footage used in this film. Excerpts from Nicole's personal diary reveal their experiences, adventures and accomplishments throughout their journey together.
