It's official: Oklahoma and Florida will play for the national championship game in U.S. college football.

The Sooners and Gators finished atop the Bowl Championship Series standings Sunday and will meet Jan. 8 in Miami for the title.

Both teams are 12-1 and coming off wins in their conference title games Saturday.

The Sooners routed Missouri 62-21 to win the Big 12. The Gators beat previously unbeaten Alabama 31-20 in the Southeastern Conference.

The Sooners, led by quarterback Sam Bradford, are the first team to score 60-plus points in five straight games since 1919. Coach Bob Stoops was a defensive co-ordinator with Florida more than a decade ago.

The Gators are led by quarterback Tim Tebow, who may a have chance to repeat as Heisman Trophy winner when the nominees for top college player are announced later this week. Coach Urban Mayer's Florida squad won the national title in 2007 in an upset over Ohio State.
