After the Floyd Mayweather-David Ortiz Fight, Mayweather Ripped Larry Merchant, Swearing on Live TV. Merchant Gave It Right Back. Here is the Floyd Mayweather-Larry Merchant Interview Video
Well, the interview after the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight was as interesting as the fight itself. On Saturday, September 17, 2011, Floyd Mayweather beat Victor Ortiz in a controversial fight that aired on HBO pay-per-view. After the fight, Mayweather pointed out that he's not a big fan of HBO's Larry Merchant.
During a post-fight interview between Floyd Mayweather and Larry Merchant, the boxer went after the veteran broadcaster saying he didn't know "shit about boxing."
What Did Floyd Mayweather Say?
"You never give me a fair shake," said Mayweather to Merchant. "HBO needs to fire you. "You don't know shit about boxing. You ain't shit."
"I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass," replied Merchant, with a smile on his face.
How Old is Larry Merchant?
Merchant is 80 years old, meaning that if he was "50 years younger," he'd still be 30 years old.
Here is the Floyd Mayweather-Larry Merchant post-fight interview from Sep. 17, 2011

Mayweather doesn't deserve such win, He won't knock out Ortiz if not because of that stupid move (Bro hug) by Ortizs himself....

Ortiz doesnt deserve to be a boxer at all, someone needs to teach him you use your hands not your head, get outta here with that crap

Mayweather did the right thing to finish him off quickly, by capitalizing on Ortiz's second stupid move. Ortiz was still wanting forgiveness, because he knew what he had done, but Floyd was too smart for that. Time to again get ready to rumble, and Ortiz didn't answer the call. Wanted to keep the lovefest going. One point off the card doesn't erase the damage "Vicious" tried to do with the most blatant headbutt I personally have ever witnessed in 40-plus years of watching boxing. Mayweather made him pay for that despicable act. Good for him.

BRAVO TO LARRY MERCHANT. LARRY, U DA MAN!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that Ortiz was frustrated that he couldn't land a big shot on Mayweather. Mayweather fought a smart fight, and the first rule to boxing is to protect yourself at all times. I also, loved what Mayweather told Larry Merchant because he is borderline racist. did you see how nice he was talking to Ortiz but, he was hating on Floyd.
at 08:04 on September 18th, 2011
It's not about whether Floyd should have won the fight, it's about the truth. Floyd spoke the truth, Larry Merchant is a patronizing, old, forgetful asshole. He's as bias as Pat Buchanan and just as talentless.

Cheap shot, Mayweather hit the guy when he wasn't looking. Plus he exhibited such class after the fight. What a joke. I can't believe Mayweather fans are actually proud of the fight. I can't imagine the posts if the situation was reversed.

Agreed. Someone will tell Floyd 50 years later what an a--hole he was during and after the fight.

Let me tell you something. This is not MMA or streetfighting. This is boxing. So for Ortiz to step so low was a disgrace to the sport to his team to this fans and to the fans of boxing. Mayweather would have never did such an act, so he made Ortiz pay for his decision. I'll show you what dirty is, hook to the face straight shot then its nighty night you azzhole. In so many words let Larry know that he is a racists. Collect my fat check then go out to celebrate with the team. Afterwards, go home and make love to my beautiful fiance.

WAY TO GO FLOYD!!!!! I HATE THAT MO-FO MERCHANT!!!!! YOU ARE RIGHT FLOYD...HE DOESN'T KNOW SQUAT ABOUT BOXING!!!!! BRAVO MAYWEATHER!!!!
at 11:13 on September 18th, 2011
How pathetic of Mayweather to go off on Merchant. His whole problem was that Merchant wanted Mayweather to speak the truth. It was a sucker punch, it was a cowardly win. Mayweather got mad cause he didn't want to admit he's a coward and this was the ONLY way he was going to win. He's NO WINNER in my eyes!!!!! Ortiz is no better, BUT, he was a man and apologized, Mayweather......just a coward!!!!!!!!
at 12:25 on September 18th, 2011
Such a shame to see a "champion" as Mayweather going so low. His time is over, it's clear from this way to win. A shame for a fighter.

so lets get this straight a white racist hates everyone who is not white ....right ....well ortiz is mexican so if merchant is a racist he would hate ortiz as well....right? so i guess that sumation is shot to hell...ooops borderline u said .... when ur on a break from the ref. u go to neutral corners ortiz was getting a point taken away.. maywheather in true mayweather form took a cheap shot ..and it was cheap . he fouls in every fight he is in and u know it ... i hope the boxing commision takes the belt from floyd and makes a manditory re-mach..oh and by the way u dont have to be white to be a racist
at 16:09 on September 18th, 2011

if it was a cowardly win, so what!?!?!? Floyd got paid so much money! he is a true businessman! i can't be mad at his hustle. boxing has never seen a champion with such business acumen. all i can do is smh...

Mayweather is a BIG COWARD. Always havin excuses not to fight Pacquiao. Could not even fight Ortiz clean. Trying to pick up a fight against Larry Merchant. Truly shameless.

Well last night was quite a bizarre fight. I'm glad I didn't pay to see it. I'm neither for or against Mayweather or Ortiz. After I saw the fight here are my comments. I think the viewers should demand a free rematch from Mayweather and Ortiz. It was a disgrace show of sportsmanship.
at 06:35 on September 19th, 2011
First off let me say that I didn't see the fight; however, with that been said I have read a lot of comments on the fight. I like Floyd and think he is talented, but sometimes he say and do things that are very ignorant. If the man felt that Larry Merchant was not giving him a fair interview than that is his opinion and he is entitled to it. Everyone has there opinion to what happen with the fight and the interview. Now, to this racist comment you said," that blacks need to get over with the past, stop using "racist" as an excuse to cover their deficiency." there may be some people who may feel that if the word is stopped being used then people will stop living in the past. The word is still very much here is it was back then and for that fact racism never left. I am not a racist nor have I ever been because I don't associate myself with ignorant people who cannot love people for people. For someone to get there and post such a thing is beyond me.

You're absolutely right Shabrette, in this world we live in there is discrimination with race, religion, and special interest. If we care how others perceive us then we should try harder to clear up the misunderstanding instead of coming up with excuses.

that fight was not boxing it was trash!! that shouldn't even be called boxing..SMH
at 21:30 on September 18th, 2011
well i guess if you are a TRUE warrior, you can't be proud of that win..
at 22:38 on September 18th, 2011
I wish he'd fight Pacquiao already! That's one fight I'd surely watch.

THE ONLY TIME PAC NAME IS MENTIONED IS WHEN MAY WETHER IS IN THE SAME SENTENCE. SO WITH THAT SAID, WHERE WAS PAC 10 YEARS AGO. THE ONLY WAY A FIGHTER GOES FROM NOTHING TO SOMETHING WITH OUT HARD WORK IS ROIDS. ALL PAC HAVE TO DO IS TAKE THE SAME TEST THAT MAY WETHER TAKES DURING TRAINING AND HE CAN MAKE A LIL CHANGE SO HE CAN GO DO ALL THE ROIDS HE CAN BUY.
