Forrest Griffin's First Interview Since Silva Fight
Since getting knocked out by Anderson Silva at UFC 101 and sprinting out of the Octagon, calling to mind a certain famous movie character played by Tom Hanks of the same name that I won’t mention, MMA fans the world over have waited for comments from Forrest Griffin explaining what happened.
But in his first interview since that rough night in Philadelphia with Dave Farra of MMA30.com, Griffin didn’t have a whole lot to say about the fight.
He did reveal his likely next opponent, however, as Griffin told Farra he had been contacted by the UFC and told that he would fight Rich Franklin next. Franklin is coming off of his own embarrassing loss at the hands of Vitor Belfort; Belfort and Silva are likely to face off at UFC 108 for the middleweight title in January.
During the video, it seemed as though the tolls of being in the media spotlight were starting to wear on Griffin, an unassuming kid from Georgia who was thrust into the spotlight during his impressive run as the winner of the original Ultimate Fighter TV show.
He looked fidgety and eager to get the interview over and basically said he didn’t remember the Silva fight, offering only that he had been “on ‘ludes,” a muscle relaxant/depressant/anti-insomnia drug.
It was tough to tell if Griffin was being serious, but one thing’s for sure, he wasn’t too happy about discussing the Silva fight.
It was a tough moment for the underdog Griffin as Silva basically toyed with him and made him look like an amateur. Griffin works as hard as anyone but what he came face-to-face with in the Octagon that night was not unlike what Rich Franklin must have felt in his two demolitions at the hands of Silva: pure hopelessness.
Griffin essentially found out that it didn’t matter how hard he planned to work in the future, he most likely would never be quick enough on the feet to be able to strike with Silva.
That’s a tough pill to swallow, but Griffin shouldn’t despair. He just got married and if the Franklin fight becomes reality, he will have a chance to put on a show against an equal opponent in a fight that has a lot of sentimental value to long-time UFC fans.
Griffin will always be popular because of all the wars he’s been through in the Octagon and his fun-loving persona, and he can continue to earn a fine living in the UFC.
Franklin will most likely be the UFC betting favorite in their future match-up, but Griffin has the tools to make the fight an all-time classic and a possible win to get his career back on track and his spirits back up again where they belong.

Dear Forrest!!! Would you not give the interviews anymore after the fight if you had not lost!!! BS!!! You are a sore loser and maybe you just found out that you are not that good as you thought you were!
