Not that they had much merit anyway, but this should put the Forsberg-as-Canuck rumours to rest.

It appears Peter Forsberg will not be returning to the NHL this season.

Although all indications over the weekend suggested Forsberg was going to announce this week that he would play, on Monday his agent Don Baizley told CBCSports.ca that "we have told the teams it's unlikely Peter will return to the NHL this season."

That is quite a surprise. However, Forsberg's agent is one of the best in the business so I wouldn't be surprised if this is some sort of strategy. The NHL GM's are meeting in Naples, FL as I type so maybe he just wanted to quell any rumours and let the GM's do their thing.

Rob Peters, I like this story. It's good stuff.

Do the Canucks really need another Swede on their team? That being said it would be nice to get all the Ornskoldsvik boys together on one NHL team. I guess Naslund's efforts this summer to bring Forsberg to Vancouver have been foiled again.

Speaking of Naslund and Forsberg - check out this great video I tracked down.
