NP Rank:
Fracking morons at Redskins Park!

So, now we have the terms of the contract versatile DL Demetric Evans signed with the San Francisco 49ers: $3.8 million over 2 years. That's it. Less than $2 million a year and only 2 years total. Un-fracking-believable! The Redskins just committed over $30 million in the next 13 months to Albert Haynesworth, but they couldn't spare less than $2 million per year for Demetric Evans? You know, we shouldn't be surprised by this idiocy any more. I shouldn't be surprised by it. It happens every damn year. Nevertheless, I'm still always a bit stunned when I see this level of stupidity from Redskins Park.
Evans is a flexible lineman who can play any position along the line. He can stuff the run far better than any DE on the roster and last year he was as productive rushing the passer as Jason Taylor or Andre Carter. Is Evans a great player? No. He'll never be an elite player in the NFL. He's just not physically gifted enough for that. However, he is a hard worker who plays with good leverage, is stout against the run and every so often will get a sack. He can start him or use him as a backup at end or tackle and he's good in a platoon situation. He's not a star, but he's the sort of valuable, hard-working role player that good teams need. The Redskins developed this guy and -- just as they did with Ryan Clark -- let him get away when a reasonable contract would have kept him on the roster.
What's more, Evans plays a position where the Redskins are thin and weak. Right now, Andre Carter is the only experienced DE on the roster and he's mediocre -- despite being paid like a star. The Redskins just let a valuable role player get away for a piddling contract only days after committing a fair chunk of the Obama stimulus package for 2 guys -- Haynesworth and DeAngelo Hall.
It's just so frustrating. Redskins management is run by incompetent boobs. Why not let Coco the Chimp run the team? At least there would be one primate with a brain on the payroll.
