Free Week 14 NFL Picks
Here are some Week 14 predictions. Please note that the NFL odds posted here are accurate at the time of posting, but may change.
Note: Home teams are in ALL CAPS
Oakland +9.5 over SAN DIEGO
The Chargers have had a terrible year and are out of the playoff picture. The point spread seems a little generous, however, so go with the Raiders.
CHICAGO -6.5 over Jacksonville
The Bears had a nightmare game on Sunday against the Vikes. Fortunately, they haven't imploded the way the Jaguars have.
Minnesota -8 over DETROIT
The Vikes' high after their big win against the Bears was short-lived as they lost the services of defensive linemen Kevin and Pat Williams to steroid-related suspensions. Of course, the Vikings could have Venus and Serena Williams on their defensive line and they'd still beat the Lions.
GREEN BAY -5.5 over Houston
Did you hear? The Texans long snapper got suspended for steroid use. I was going to go with the Texans, but this changes everything. Go with the Packers to win big.
INDIANAPOLIS -11.5 over Cincinnati
Peyton Manning, who has done it all for the Colts during the Colts' five-game winning streak. Look for him to keep going to Marvin Harrison and third-down target Anthony Gonzalez until running back Joseph Addai gets his act together. Whatever happens with the Colts, the Bengals shouldn't pose much of a problem.
Atlanta +3 over NEW ORLEANS
The Saints were pretty much knocked out of the playoff picture last week while the Falcons primed and ready for the postseason. This should be an offensive showdown, but the Falcons defense should play well enough to squeak out a win.
NY GIANTS -7 over Philadelphia
Now that the whole Plaxico Burress thing is starting to die down, Giants fans can focus on football. Of course, judging by the team's reaction, the whole Burress mess didn't affect their focus one bit. The Eagles are coming off a solid Thanksgiving win, but they won't have enough to take on the Giants defense. The Giants D should be able to neutralize Brian Westbrook and force QB Donovan McNabb to win the game for the Eagles.
TENNESSEE -14 over Cleveland
Quarterback controversy? What quarterback controversy? The Browns quarterback will be...uh, give me a minute while I google this...Ken Dorsey because everyone else they have is injured. The Browns were already demoralized. This week will only make matter worse.
Miami +1 over BUFFALO
The Dolphins would normally hate a December matchup in a cold climate like Buffalo, but this game is being played in Toronto's SkyDome, so they don't have to worry about the elements. This should be a homecoming for former Toronto Argonaut Ricky Williams. Any way you slice it, the Dolphins should have an edge.
DENVER -9 over Kansas City
This all comes down to which Broncos team will show up. Will it be the squad that manhandled the Jets or the team that lost to the Raiders at home? You can flip a coin on this one, but my hunch says that the Broncos will get a win.
NY Jets -4 over SAN FRANCISCO
Brett Favre is likely to be a little ornery after losing to the Broncos last week and take it out on the 49ers defense.
New England -5 over SEATTLE
This really has been a nightmare year for Seattle sports fans. Their one chance to see Tom Brady in Seattle and he goes and gets himself injured. Now they have to watch the Hawks get dismantled by some guy named Matt Cassel. When will anything go their way?
ARIZONA -14 over St. Louis
Ah, relief for the Cardinals at last. After two losses to non-division opponents, they're back in the friendly confines of the NFC West where they're winning record will not be threatened.
PITTSBURGH -3 over Dallas
One of the big glamor matchups this weekend. The Cowboys are on a high since the return of Tony Romo. Still, Romo hasn't faced the Steelers buzzsaw of a defense and he may do it without the services running back Marion Barber. Add in the chilly climes of Pittsburgh and the Steelers should take it.
BALTIMORE -5.5 over Washington
The Ravens are looking good going into the homestretch. They play three of their final four games at home and their defense has allowed the third-fewest points in the league. The only question is Joe Flacco.
CAROLINA -3 over Tampa
This should be the best game of the week. Two quality teams that have largely ignored fighting for sole possession of the NFC South Division lead on a Monday night in front of a national audience. The Bucs have played everyone tough and the Panthers defense is starting to falter. Still, the Bucs have been a different team on the road this season. Sure, home field advantage ain't what it used to be, but it might enough for the Panthers to win.
