Freezing cold weather conditions are expected for the Phillies-Rockies Game 3 later tonight in Denver.  The forecast for Saturday 9PM MT is for 30 degrees and with a chance of snow.

It's difficult to predict how the weather is going to affect each and every player.  A player like Phillies outfield Matt Stairs, who grew up in New Brunswick, Canada, didn't seem fazed by the cold weather.  He said, "I've played in games when it was 30 below. Why do you think I have hockey skates in my locker?".

For the most part though, baseball is played in warm weather climates and seasons.  Even in October, it is rare for gametime temperatures to dip into the low 30s.  It's even more rare for there to be snow.  For game 3, we might end up getting both.

"That's short-sleeve weather," says Phillies outfielder Matt Stairs, who grew up in New Brunswick, Canada. "I've played in games when it was 30 below. Why do you think I have hockey skates in my locker?"
