Frustrated over inflated Sports Tickets.

Everytime I have attempted to purchase tickets during the Vancouver Canuck's Playoff run off a National Ticket Vendor I get more frustrated.  I know hockey is very popular in the Vancouver region right now .When I go on-line with that vendor,at the exact moment the tickets go on sale, even on  pre-sale days, it seems that the tickets just vanish.

Amazingly enough, I see all those classified adds on popular Craigslist where people start with the sale of  those playoff tickets at inflated prices. Where does the lunch box crowd go to and buy their tickets ?

How do all these people on Craigslist and those scalpers manage to obtain all those tickets they sell ? I'm not that slow on the keyboard.

I'll just have to stay home and watch Ron McLean and Don Cherry.  At least I can turn the television off if the game gets boring.

I don't even know how people afford any of those tickets in the first place! It's way too expensive for me..

Amazing where the money comes from with a lot of good people being laid off from their places of employment.

I got tickets. It was actually very easy.  I logged on to Ticketmaster, selected the Canucks playoff games I wanted and bought them on my credit card.  What is so difficult about that?  As for the price, it is obviously set at a fair market price or they would not sell out (read economics 101 basic supply and demand).

Canucks playoff tickets are a luxury good and they are priced accordingly.  Lots of people would like to drive Porches and eat at Morton's but luxuries are reserved for those who can afford them.  For those who cannot the vancouver Giants are in the playoffs and their tickets are only $20.  Great value if you ask me!

I think Brian is just complaining about how some people are buying the tickets just to re-sell and make a profit. I can totally understand his frustration.

I understand the basics as I was purchasing tickets and attending games during the Canucks downward spiral in January-February. I had read that a certain Ticket Vendor was being investigated for obtaining tickets and providing them to their sister outifit. Hopefully it isn't happening here.

Oh,  I did buy 8 AC/DC Tickets for my friends with no problems.

As another person commented it is the inflated prices that irk me.

Good post Brian.

I am not against people doing that at all.  I would have missed lots of concerts and sporting events without the option of buying from ticket scalpers.   I just checked online and am surprised that scalpers are only getting about a 20% to 25% premium for the 1st two 2nd round playoff game tickets.
