Gaines Adams Funeral: Players and Coaches Attend

A funeral service for Gaines Adams, an NFL-er who died on January 17 at the age of 26, was held in Easley, South Carolina today. Adams played defensive end for Tampa Bay and than Chicago Bears. His funeral was attended by fellow players and coaches including Jay Cutler, Brian Urlacher, Devin Hester, Tommie Harris, Alex Brown, Lovie Smith and Tommy Bowden. Adams was praised for his humility and work ethic.

A package of video highlights from Adams' pro and college career was shown during the 90-minute service at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley. About 1,000 mourners filled the sanctuary.

Adams's girlfriend found him in his home on January 17, after which he was rushed to Self Regional Memorial Hospital in Greenwood, South Carolina, but later died. The autopsy results revealed Adams died from a cardiac arrest due to an enlarged heart.
