Galveston Pirates 2 Regals FC 0
News just in from Galveston in the SPSL derby match with the Regals.
Galveston Pirates 2 Regals FC 0.
Early reports from Courville Stadium show the match as being a bit bad tempered with 3 red cards and some unsportsmanlike behaviour by a member of the visiting coaching staff at the end makes this sound like real good old fashioned derby match. No handbags, no prima donnas, just some real good ill tempered, bad blooded rivalry.
However, lets not get away from the biggest result so far this season though with the pirates defeating the highly fancied Regals by 2 goals to nil.
Both goals came in the first half, both from wonder striker, Roy Hernandez.
The first came around 34 minutes when he collected a rebound in the box and his predator like skills meant he was in the right place at the right time to give his team a well deserved lead.
His second was truly a piece of individual skill as he made this by himself and finished it in the bottom right hand corner with a beautiful finish. This ended the game as a competition because no matter how good the Regals are, the Pirates would never lose 3 goals at home, not with the excellent defence they have. never, not in this lifetime!
Pirate coach Brendan Keyes said afterwards, "This was a beautiful result for us. There has been a lot of hype around this match with a few things printed that I allegedly said, that I didn't; This kind of spilled onto the pitch today but we got what we deserved and the 3 points is all that matters. The TV cameras even turned up and I am sure the neutral will not be disappointed with the highlights from what was an event ridden match."
Barely able to contain himself he continued, "Two of our guys got sent off which was disappointing and there were also some unsavory behaviour by the visiting coaching staff at the end but that can't detract from the result and we feel great about the win. I am now going to the pub to celebrate."
Well done to Brendan and his team, sounded like a cracker.
