Athens, GA (Nov 5, 2007) - When University of Georgia fans came to Sanford Stadium for the season opening game against Oklahoma State University, word was spread that all the fans should wear red to the game as a sign of solid support for their team. Impressive was an understatement of what it looked like in the stands. With this Saturday's game against 18th ranked Auburn (7-3, 4-2) looming, the clarion call has gone out again. On tonight's edition of UGA Coach Mark Richt's weekly radio call-in show with Larry Munson, Richt relayed that the seniors on the team are asking the fans to come dressed in black as a sign of unity and respect.
The seniors hope this effort will bring fans together as the 10th Ranked UGA Bulldogs (7-2, 4-2) must win their next two games to have a chance to play for the SEC Championship on December 2, 2007 at the Georgia Dome. In the past few years, this game has always been important for the home team. And the home team has been accommodating and hospitable in allowing the visitors to win.
Led by redshirt Freshman tailback Knownshon Moreno, who last week became the first UGA freshman since Herschel Walker to rush for 1,000 yards, the Bulldogs hope to be a less hospitable host. And in the spirit of the "Bulldog Nation", they want to do it with a little help from their fans.
The game will be broadcast on National Television by CBS-TV at 3:30 PM EST on Saturday.
