The 2009 season in the German Bundesliga is well underway and trends are starting to develop. Wolfsburg and Munich were competing for top spot  last year, with Wolfsburg eventually emerging as the German Champion.

To the surprise, or even amazement, Bayern Munich (the author's team} and Wolfsburg are not among the top three clubs so far this season.  Munich holds ninth place, while Wolfsburg holds 5th.

Leverkusen, Bremen and Hamburg hold the top three spots.  

For the uninitiated there are 34 games played during a season.  Games are normally played on weekends.  The games this week complete the 12th game of the season for all (Matchday).

The 12th matchday was played Friday, yesterday and today.  Here are the results of this weeks matches:

For the first time in several seasons , Bayern Muenchen is noticeably absent from the top 6.
