After a scheduled break last weekend to allow play for Germany's National team friendly against South Africa, the league resumed its play this weekend.  As an aside Germany won its friendly against South Africa 2-0.

Matchday 5 was played over 12 and 13 September.  Seven games were played on Saturday and two on Sunday.  Bayern Munich was able to trounce Borussia Dortmund in Dortmund 5-1.   Hamburg another top contender beat VFB Stuttgart 3-1.  Munich after one of the worst starts in this season, has solidified its position of top contenders.
