Gilbert Arenas Investigated Over Locker Room Gun Incident
Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas is in hot water over the Christmas Eve incident involving gun possession. Teammates Javaris Crittenton and Gilbert Arenas were caught up in controversy when they drew guns on each other on Christmas Eve during a locker room fight. Allegedly, Gilbert Arenas drew his gun out first when the fight broke out over a gambling debt. It is alleged that Arenas owes $25,000 to Crittenton after a poker game and wanted to back out from paying.
Arenas's response? Commenting on the situation, he noted, "I'm a goof ball and that's what I am, so even doing something like this, I'm going to make fun of it and that's how I am." Arenas said the guns were unloaded when he brought them into the locker room at Verizon Center. He said he never meant to hurt anyone and was just playing a joke on his teammate. He did say that the incident was a mistake and was wrong. Arenas also denied that he gambles.
Interestingly, one of Arenas's new year resolutions, as he admits on his Twitter account, is "dont take everything so serious laugh more." But, it seems both he and Javaris Crittenton could now face grand jury on charges related to the incident.
He also said in response to a follower, "why would i owe sumbody money and pull a pistol out sounds a little backwards."
