Update 20-08: US swimmer and all-time Olympian Michael Phelps poses exclusively for the August 25, 2008 edition of Sports Illustrated. See photo.

Update 19-08: So after finishing a great job it's time to relax. It seems to me that Micheal have a lot of fun with the girls. Well look at the pictures. Don't be surprised when we see him at the Beach Vollebal Venue. Lots of nice beachbabes over there. Or is he waiting for Amanda Beard?

No wonder that the organizing committee ordered 20.000 more condoms. The stock of 100.000 was not enough. Probably it is hot in Beijing, or is it the smog?

Update 17-08: He did it !! Eight golden medals. He broke the record of Mark Spitz out of 1972, see below. Michael Phelps took his final golden medal at the 100 meter medley relay. Congratulations. Super.

Michael Phelps is now absulte the best Olympian ever. With 8 gold in Beijing and 6 gold in Athene he is with length the best in the overall golden medal tally since the start of the Modern Games, 112 years ago !!

2008 Olympic results:

Eight gold medals (400m individual medley, 4x100m freestyle relay, 200m freestyle, 200m butterfly, 4x200 freestyle relay, 200m individual medley, 100m butterfly, 4x100 medley relay)

Previous Olympic results:

Six gold medals at 2004 Olympics (100m butterfly, 200m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 400m individual medley, 4x200 freestyle relay, 4x100 medley relay)

Two bronze medals at 2004 Olympics (200m freestyle, 4x100 freestyle relay)

Phelps is the most successful Olympian of all time with a career tally of 14 golds, five more than anyone else.

He broke fellow American Mark Spitz's 1972 record of seven wins at a single Games after coming close to matching his mark at Athens four years ago when he collected six golds.

He has an unusual physique with a long torso and comparatively short legs, providing minimal resistance in the water.

Update 16-08: Michael Phelps did it again. He won the men's 100m butterfly with a very small margin, but he won. This seventh gold medal brought him by the way an extra 1 million dollars from sponsors and he is now equal with famous Mark Spitz. With an overall of 13 gold Olympic medals Phelps reached to the absolute top. He is already the best Olympian in the 112-year history of the modern Games.

Tomorrow (17-08) he is going for the last possible medal on the 100 meter medley relay.

Update 15-08: Michael Phelps is really a very unique swimmer. Today he took his sixth golden medal in Beijing. Phelps set a new world record in the men's 200 metres individual medley with a time of one minute 54.23 seconds

That brings his total on 12 golden Olympic Medals. Unbelieveble result. And he is still on track in his personal goal to go for eight golden medals. That will also break the record of famous Mark Spitz. (7 gold at the Olympics in 1972)

Update13-8: The United States with Michael Phelps in starting position won the men's swimming 4x200m freestyle relay in world record time. So that's golden medal numer six for Michael. He is really a golden boy with a total of 11 golden Olympic Medals so far. His goal is three more golden medals. This afternoon he is going for number six. See the picture for his nice and fast swimmingsuit.

Michael Phelps is going commercial for a long time with his own website. But as part of his ongoing success in China and his new fans in China he decided to go in Chinese too.

Michael Phelps is from now on the greatest Olympian in history. He won his fourth gold at the 200m butterfly in a world record time of 1min 52.03sec. He is now the only sporter who gathered 10 gold medals in a Games career.

Update:  Michael Phelps won his third straight gold in the men’s 200 meter freestyle setting a new world record of 1:42.96.

Update: Michael Phelps is still on track winning 8 gold medals. The second one is in with the men's 4x100-meter freestyle. See photos. And again US President George Bush was cheering and waving with the American Flag. He is really a good supporter, mau be that is something George can do fulltime after his Presidency.

Update: The first final voor Michael Phelps was the Men’s 400m Individual Medley in Swimming and he finished on first place with an impressive 4:03.84 minutes, a new World and Olympic Record. US President, George Bush, was at the Water Cube to cheer the guys and gals.

Waiting for the music, Michael Phelps had his right hand on his heart, an Olympic gold medal around his neck and was listening to the closing notes of "The Star-Spangled Banner" when the music went dead Sunday.

Phelps broke into a wide grin and the surprised crowd, at first unsure what to do, then began clapping. When the music didn't resume, Phelps, teammate Ryan Lochte, the bronze medalist, and silver medalist Laszlo Cseh of Hungary gathered on the top spot of the medals podium for photographers.

The glitch occurred as President Bush, wife Laura and daughter Barbara, and his father, former President Bush, were in attendance at the Water Cube. Source NBC

You have heard of Michael Phelps, the American swimmer that is going for a new Olympic Record for the number of gold medals. Yes, of course he is going for 8 gold medals, you know eight is the magic number in Beijing, the lucky eight for Michael Phelps.

Tomorrow is his first final heat and then he can score his forst gold medal. During the first heat he set already a new Olympic Record: 4:07.82. This is two seconds slower than his own worldrecord. Wait till the final. I think he will crush his own world and olympic record.
