Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell has been signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL.

Harrell, who has thrown for more touchdowns than any quarterback in NCAA Division I history, failed to get picked up by an NFL team. Harrell had tried out for the Cleveland Browns, but wasn't offered a contract.

Many scouts thought that Harrell's success stemmed from Texas Tech's innovative offensive system rather than his skill.

Graham Harrell may be a good fit for the CFL, a league that thrives on quickness and passing. Roughriders management believe that Graham Harrell could be another Doug Flutie, a well-known college quarterback who failed to thrive in the NFL, yet had a skill set perfectly suited for the Canadian game.

It may take a while for Harrell to get onto the field. The Saskatchewan Roughriders have another three quarterbacks under contract including starter Darian Durant.

I am a Graham Harrell fan living in Ennis, TX when he lead the Ennis Lions to a state championship.  Graham should be playing in the NFL but the NFL's loss will be the CFL's gain.
