Guy Lafleur Hockey Hall of Famer could spend time in jail

Montreal Canadiens great, Guy Lafleur has been convicted of giving contradictory evidence at his son's bail hearing and the hockey hall of famer could be spending up to 14 years in prison. Lafleur will be sentenced next month with The Crown asking for a conditional sentence while the defence is looking for a fine.
Guy Lafleur's son Mark Lafleur is facing sexual assault charges, assault with a weapon, and forcible confinement of a minor in 2007.

Lafleur agreed in September 2007 to ensure his son Mark abided by a court-ordered curfew if he were granted bail pending trial.

But at a hearing the following month, it was revealed the elder Lafleur had driven his son to a hotel so he could spend time with a girlfriend on two occasions.

This is part of the mess the Montreal Canadiens are going through in the 2008-2009 season with on and off ice issues on its' 100th anniversary. Having been swept by the Boston Bruins in the NHL playoffs, the Canadiens had off ice issues with the Kostitsyn brothers and goalie Carey Price.
