Hangboarding: snowboarding reinvented

You have to see the video to fully comprehend this thing.  You're suspended in a harness a few inches above a snowboard as you fly down the mountain head-first.  It looks a little strange, but it does seem like it would be fun.

For some reason I think Job from Arrested Development would look great on one--it could be his winter Segway.

Full disclosure: my dad is retired and did some freelance work at their manufacturing outlet. That's how I heard about it.

Hangboarding combines the three well-established sports of snowboarding, hang gliding and mountain biking, and yet it is something completely different.

Hangboarding is not like anything else. You’re not connected to your edges; you’re suspended above them. You’re not in bindings; you’re harnessed. And you sure as hell aren’t vertical; you’re horizontal. So we understand if you need a little explanation. We can explain the technique and the setup, to really understand hangboarding you have to get on the snow and ride.

Even more cavalier towards personal safety is noboarding, which is snowboarding without bindings...

and in summer when there is no snow you have to do ropeboarding, which is like skating in a half pipe but your hanging under a tree....

no story for that yet :(
