Harbhajan slaps Sreesanth
Update April 28,2008:
Harbhajan Singh has been handed an 11-match ban for his altercation with Sreesanth at the end of Mumbai Indians' match against Kings XI Punjab on Friday. The ban, which includes Sunday's match, means he is all but out of the first edition of the IPL - unless Mumbai reach the semi-final of the tournament, which looks highly unlikely at this point.
Sreesanth was let off with a warning after video evidence showed Harbhajan slapped him without any provocation. The duo embraced at the end of the hearing after Harbhajan offered an apology in front of the cameras. Harbhajan will not be appealing against the ban.
"The referee studied video tapes of the incident and found the assault by Harbhajan was totally unprovoked. The footage exactly showed that Harbhajan went down the line, wishing all the players, shaking hands with a few players," said Lalit Modi, the commissioner of the IPL who is also a vice-president of the BCCI. "Sreesanth was the third player that he met. Instead of shaking his hand he actually slapped him and continued down the line, shaking hands with the other players."

After the 10th match which Kings XI Punjab won over Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab pacer S Sreesanth approached Mumbai Indians captain Harbhajan Singh and said "Hard Luck Buddy".In return Harbhajan Singh slapped Sreesanth under his left eye. Sreesanth was seen crying on the ground after this incident.
When Sreesanth was contacted by media, he refused that anything like that has happened and called Harbhajan his big brother and also said that he cried because he was happy about their win after losing two previous games.Yuvraj Singh, captain of Kings XI Punjab however said that he was unhappy on what happened and Kings XI Punjab has also filed an issue against Harbhajan Singh. Now let's see if BCCI takes some action against harbhajan singh or not.
Though Harbhajan apologized in the dressing room to Sreesanth, but do you think some action should be taken against bhajee?
Update:
Harbhajan Singh has been temporarily suspended from the Indian Premier League following his spat with Sreesanth at the end of the Mumbai-Punjab game in Mohali on Friday.
His suspension is pending the inquiry into the incident on Monday, which means he would not be able to play Mumbai's home match against Deccan Chargers on Sunday.
"Based on prima facie video evidence as seen and reviewed by the match adjudicator and referee Farokh Engineer from the tapes provided by Sony & TWI a decision has been reached to suspend Harbhajan Singh pending the inquiry into the incident on Monday, April 28th 2008," a release from the Indian board said.
Harbhajan has a hearing today, let's see what comes out .... If punished, the minimum ban would be 10 ODIs or IPL matches, the maximum on the other hand is a life ban.
