Heath Slocum Beats Them All
Heath Slocum outplayed the rest of the PGA Tour field this weekend, shooting a 67 final round to win by one stroke. Slocum, in a battle with some of the best golfers in the world, Tiger, Els, Stricker, sunk a 20 foot par putt to win by one shot at the Barclay's Sunday afternoon.
Slocum, the one expected not to win, moved up 121 spots in the FedEx Cup standings from No. 124 to No. 3. If Slocum missed the cut this weekend, he would not have been eligible for the PGA Tour playoffs in the next few weeks (The total is cut off at 125, Slocum was 124). Slocum's win, worth $1.35 million, marked his first victory in four years on the PGA Tour. Tiger, with a final round 67, tied for second with Els, Harrington, and Stricker at -4 under.
