Heroes exist outside of Hollywood. A story of courage.

Sometimes a sportsman comes along that people admire, often without even knowing why. There is just something special about them, fearlessness, charisma, who knows.

Back when CART was still CART there was a young Italian driver named Alex Zanardi.
He was incredible to watch and almost as enjoyable to listen to, a true gentleman competitor.
My favorite memory of him was at Laguna Seca, taking the dirty side of the corkscrew, well ok in all fairness it wasnt the dirty side so much as it was the dirt side, to make a pass for position in the late stages of a race.

While I may never really know what it was about Alex I liked, it was nice to see today that whatever captured my attention about him then, still makes me smile today.

Below is a recent video, a must see for any Zanardi fan.
Today he is an inspiration for many, an example of the incredible power of the human spirit when it simply refuses to stop trying.
I did not know 15 years ago that he was destined to be that person, but if you had told me, I doubt I would have been surprised.
