The 27 year old Spaniard, title-winner in 2005 and 2006, claimed his first victory of 2008 in a stunning, incident-packed 61-lap race that thrilled a sell out crowd of 100,000 at the Marina Bay street circuit.
Alonso came from a lowly 15th on the grid to record his 20th career victory.
His story indeed made mark in history.
