Hockey Card Day in Canada
This Saturday, Feb 21st is National Hockey Card Day in Canada and Canadian consumers will be treated to FREE hockey cards at participating retailers.
Fans are encouraged to visit their favourite hobby shop, Wal-Mart, Toy-R-Us, Jean Coutu or London Drugs to collect their free (5) five card pack courtesy the fine folks at Upper Deck.
The individual cards are part of a fifteen card set exclusive to participating Canadian retailers and feature five(5) Hockey Legends (Gretzky Lemieux, Cherry, Orr, Howe), five (5) Rookies (Stamkos, Brassard, Turris, Bailey, Gillies) and five (5) NHL Superstars (Crosby, Sakic, Brodeur, Iginla, Lecavalier).

This is a great idea. Hockey card collecting is a dying art. Maybe this will help revive it.

I suppose this is all because no one can afford to collect these anymore and it's all on the internet now. Good idea though.

McDonald's hockey cards have been a huge hit in Canada. The vintage hockey market is also alive and well.
