Marcin Wasilewski the Polish defender who plays RSC Anderlecht was injured in a nasty clash with Axel Witsel of Standard Liege on Sunday, he suffered a double break of the right leg and will be out for a long time, if indeed he can recover and resume his career after this.

Axel Witsel will face a "severe" punishment of at least 4 games.

Anderlecht defender Marcin Wasilewski faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a horrific double break of his right leg on Sunday.

Pole Wasilewski, 29, was injured in a clash with Standard Liege midfielder Axel Witsel, who received a straight red card in the 25th minute.

"The break is particularly severe and he faces a long recovery," Anderlecht club doctor Louis Kinnen was reported as saying.

Pictures of the incident were splashed over almost all Belgian newspapers
