And in this Corner, Hud "The Cougar" Mellencamp. Hud Mellencamp, the son of famed, name-changing rocker, John Mellencamp, won the division title in Indiana's Golden Glove boxing tournament.

Little ditty about Hud Mellencamp: the 14 year-old boxes for the Indy Police Althletic league and defeated opponent Cody Bennett in a 4-1 decision in the 132-pound senior-division bout on April 16.

Hud was awarded with a trophy and a hug from his heartland rocking father, John Mellencamp.

Nine other open-division winners will represent Indiana in the national Golden Gloves tournament May 4-10 in Salt Lake City.

Jacky may be a football star, but Hud has proven he is a boxing star. Just an American kid doin' the best he can.

A split decision was reasonable as the opponent did own parts of the rounds.
