A phenomenon young player, CR7 finally decide to extend his contract for one year ahead.

The 23-year-old Portugal winger had frequently expressed his desire to leave for Spanish champions Real Madrid this summer.

But he told Portuguese paper Publico: "Manager Sir Alex Ferguson heard my arguments, I heard his and it was felt the best thing would be for me to stay.

"I can confirm that next season I will play for Manchester United."

Ferguson, speaking after the club's goalless friendly with Juventus on Wednesday, said he was "pleased" Ronaldo was staying.

And Ferguson gave a revealing insight into how he dealt with the Ronaldo transfer saga, which resulted in two months of frenzied speculation over whether the player would leave.

Good story, although I do think that he will leave at the end of next season, which is a shame for the Premier League.

Hi Adam, thanks' for your comment.

I think it's  a big loss for MU to see CR7 play for Real Madrid.

I don't understand why anyone would want to leave manchester united. It is already one of the top clubs in the world and they are constantly winning.

Hi JeffHuang, thanks' for your comment.

MU is not the only top football club in the world, Barcelona and AC Milan is also a top club. One problem is, whether the players could adjust with a new style of each football club e.g. Dennis Bergkamp is one of example who could not adjust with Serie A style.

One more year (or less) until Man U cedes top of the table to (everyone sing "You'll Never Walk Alone") Liverpool!!!

At least one year to pursue his dreams.

I don't see a reason why he would want to play for Real... Especially now that United is getting stronger and stronger... And he just wanna leave like that... It seems that whoever went there, turns out flop... Like Becks... who else?

Perhaps, CR7 is being paranoid after the lost from German squad in EURO 2008.

I would say Nistelrooy, but he is doing very well there. Beckham didn't flop, he just had a bit of an argument with the, then manager.

It's up to Ronaldo where he goes, but his future should lie with Utd, although what else has he got to win. He did say he wants to play for Real Madrid, but why at 23? May as well wait till he's won everything twice over, and then think about moving.

Part of it is for his mother of course though, who has an illness. And it was her dream to see her son play for Madrid. Although, she was the first to say that he was staying too!
