The University of Idaho Vandals football team is off to an anemic 1-3 start this year, including a 70-0 loss to start the season. You would think that the UI's coaching staff would be feeling the ire of the public, but so far Vandals fans have been focusing on something else: the cheerleaders.

Instead of worrying about the team's ability to cover opposing players, Vandals fans are concerned about the cheerleaders covering themselves. Team officials have asked the cheerleading squad to ditch their new uniforms which were considered too skimpy.

The offending uniforms featured halter tops that exposed the midriff and short black skirts with white trim that were more in keeping with what an NFL cheerleader's uniform.

"A number of fans were concerned that the uniforms were inappropriate," said Bruce Pitman, dean of students. "To be fair, there were a number of fans who liked them."

"I'm not quite sure what will happen to them," he said

The cheerleaders coach ordered the uniforms and paid for them with $4,200 from a spirit squad fund, part of which is drawn from student fees, Pitman said. The squad has ordered new uniforms with $2,200 in private money, he added.

The new uniforms will be unveiled Oct. 4 and will feature less revealing tops as well as skirts that are six inches longer. Until then, the cheerleaders will hit the field wearing football jerseys and volleyball shorts.

The new cheerleader outfits weren't the only cosmetic change that the Idaho football team has undergone this season. The team had to remove an awkwardly placed team logo from the football players' pants.

Earlier this month the football team removed the UI logo sewn onto the seat of the pants after fans complained. Athletic Director Rob Spears says nobody realized earlier how the logo would look.

are you kidding me? Basically the fat cheerleaders were complaining because they are too lazy to get on a treadmill. Its much easier to cry and complain about a policy than to not go to mcdonalds 3x a day.
