After bundling India for 441 with the help of Jason Krejza's 8-wicket haul, Australia were 189 for the loss of 2 wickets at the close of second day's play in Nagpur. Australian opener Simon Katich once again proved his liking for the Indian attack as he slammed 11th half-century, his seventh against the hosts. Bad luck continued to have picked Matthew Hayden as its favourite child on this tour as he once gain failed to convert the start into a big knock. Just when he looked murderous, a direct throw from M. Vijay saw him short of crease for 16 runs.
The day 2 of the fourth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy, completely belonged to Australians in general and debutant off-spinner Jason Krejza in particular. The tweaker from Tasmania, produced an astonishing spell in the post lunch session, snaring 5 wickets as India slipped from a commanding 422/5 to 441 all-out. The visitors then wrested the initiative from the hosts when Simon Katich, with an unbeaten 92 and Mike Hussey with 45, stitched a fine unconquered 115 partnership for the third wicket to take Australian score to 189/2 at the end of play on the second day, 260 adrift of the Indian total with 8 wickets in the kitty.
