Dense fog delayed the start of the fifth day's play of the second Test between India and England at the Mohali Stadium in the north Indian state of Punjab.

India have managed to amass a substantial lead over the visitors and would be looking to score fast in the morning session so that the bowlers can try top take the batsmen down in the remaining overs of the day.

Earlier yesterday, umpires at Mohali offered light to the Indian batsmen who were more than keen to take the decision and walk off the field. The total read 134/4 at stumps on Day 4 with an overall lead of 285 runs. On a day of dwindling runs and display of Test cricket of the yore, England had managed to make their mark on the home batsmen for the first time in the series.

Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh return to the crease with India 134-4, a lead of 285, when a fog-delayed day five of the second Test starts at 0600 GMT.

England will look to take early wickets and keep the hosts' run-scoring to a minimum after restricting them impressively on day three in Mohali.

But Gambhir (44no) and the explosive Yuvraj (39no) look to be in fine form.

A draw, however, remains the most likely result, especially after the loss of two-and-a-half hours to fog.
