Playing in the second cricket test at Mohali in north India, Host indian side won the toss and elected to bat first against England at Mohali. Visitor's captain Kevin Pietersen rued the opportunity of losing the toss as the wicket would offer help to the bowlers in the first as well as the last innings of the game.

The start of the second and final Test match had been delayed due to bad light. An overnight fog persisted over the stadium and hence the umpires had to wait before the toss could commence.

Stuart Broad marked his return from injury with an early wicket to give England a fine start on day one of the second Test against India in Mohali.

England, who lost the toss and were offered the ball, recalled Broad in place of Steve Harmison.

It was their only change from the defeat in Chennai and paid immediate dividends as Sehwag edged behind for a duck in the second over of the day.

After an hour of play, Gautam Gambhir and Rahul Dravid helped India to 16-1.
