Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli contributed with the bat to help India post 171 runs target against Mighty England in 10th match of the Twenty20 World Cup played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.

Rohit scored 55 runs (N.O) off 33 balls and smashed six boundaries including a massive six in the last over to complete his fifth half-century.

Gambhir scored 45 runs off 38 balls and smashed five boundaries before being caught behind by Craig Kieswetter off Steven Finn in the 16th over.

After being asked to bat first, Indians were off to a good start against England.

India managed to score 50 runs in just 5.4 overs. But in the process they lost Irfan Pathan. He scored eight runs off eight balls before being bowled out by Steven Finn in the third over of the innings.

After Pathan, Indian batters Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir continued to build score on a good note, but they were stopped by Graeme Swan in the 11 over when he claimed the wicket of Kohli.

At this stage of the game Indians were 81/2 in 10.3 overs.

Kohli scored 40 runs off 32 balls and smashed six boundaries before being caught by Jonny Bairstow at mid wicket.

Gambhir and Kohli were involved in the 57 runs partnership for the second wicket.

At toss, England skipper elected to bowl against MS Dhoni led Indian cricket team.

India have left out Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag, Ravichandran Ashwin and replaced them with Ashok Dinda, Harbhajan Singh Piyush Chawla.

England have replaced Samit patel with Tim Bresnan.

India's listless bowling attack will aim to put up an improved performance ahead of the Super Eight stage against England in their final group league encounter.

Both India and England are through to the 'Super Eight' but the contrasting manner of their respective victories certainly makes Stuart Broad and Co favourites ahead of a clash that has gained marquee status over the years.

While the Indian team management will be looking to plug the loopholes that appeared in the match against Afghanistan, England, after a facile 116-run win, will look to repeat that performance against a much better team.

The cause of concern for India across all formats has been their bowlers and it is no different in Twenty20.

The 22-yard strip at the R Premadasa Stadium has been of great help for the pace bowlers but the 'Men in Blue' are more reliant on their spinners.

The batting line-up looks more or less settled but for Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina who have complaints regarding sore throat and stomach bug.

The England team, on the other hand, bears a much settled look after their comprehensive win against Afghanistan was a testimony to that.

In all there are ingredients of a perfect 'Super Sunday' before the actual battle begins.

Teams:

India:
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (C), Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, Ashok Dinda and Laxmipathi Balaji.

England: Stuart Broad (C), Craig Kieswetter, Alex Hales, Luke Wright, Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Tim Bresnan, Greame Swann, Steven Finn, Jane Dernbach.
