Danica Patrick, Three Other Women, and 36 Others Announced as Indy 500 Entries

The Indy 500 entries were announced on Wednesday April 21 and they include four defending champions and four women including the popular Danica Patrick.

The Indy 500 will take place next month on May 30.

Helio Castroneves from Brazil is the defending champion, and past winners such as Scott Dixon, Dan Wheldon and Dario Franchitti are all returning for the race and all have hopes of regaining the title.

Danica Patrick will be racing along with Sarah Fisher, Milka Duno and Simona de Silvestro, making the total up to four women competing. This is a record for the Indy 500.

Helio Castroneves has said that he wants to match the records set by A.J Foyt, Al Unser and Rick Mears, for four Indy 500 victories under their belt.

Dixon won the Indy 500 in 2008 on his way to his second IndyCar season crown while Wheldon won at Indy in 2005 ahead of his only season title and current season champion Franchitti won in 2007 on the way to his first season crown.

Other racers are as follows:
Hikeki Mutoh, Takuma Sato, Paul Trace, Alex Tagliani, Will Power, Ryan Briscoe, Alex Lloyd, Mike Conway, Jay Howard, Justin Wilson, Tony Kanaan, Vitor Meira, Fafael Matos, Mario Moraes, Bruno Junqueira, Mario Romancini, E.J. Viso, Sebastien Saavedra and Bertrand Baguette.

Some racers are veterans and some are rookies, but they will all be vying for the title in the race on May 30.
