Highlights of this inaugural match

One man can win a match in cricket – Brendon McCullum – 158 n.o. 13 sixes, 10 fours, 73 balls. The final result of the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Bangalore Royal Challengers might look totally lopsided with Bangalore being bowled out for 82 after attempting a chase down of 222 runs. But the actual reality was that it was basically Brendon McCullum who finished the game in the first session – none of the other Kolkata batsmen looked particularly at ease and though McCullum was given preferential strike treatment to a certain extent, it was more an individual walloping rather than a team thrashing. The Royal Challengers looked dazed when they came out to bat and pretty much collapsed with ease. To put it in a nutshell for those of you who didn’t watch the game – it was like Adam Gilchrist’s innings during the 2007 World Cup Finals vs Sri Lanka – a one man batting effort. Watch it to believe this knock by McCullum.
