Rest of India were in a desperate position after the first day’s play in the Irani trophy 2008 against Ranji champions Delhi at Vadodara.
RoI won the toss and elected to bat. Wasim Jaffer scored 50 and Dravid made 46 while opening. But after that the batting collapsed as Ishant Sharma and Chetanya Nanda rocked them with three wickets apiece. Pradeep Sangan also took three wickets to restrict the RoI team to 252. They were able to cross 250 only because Harbhajan, RP and Munaf contributed vital runs in the later stages.
Delhi batted out the remaining 5 overs to reach 21 for no loss with Aakash Chopra and Gautam Gambhir at the crease.
