It's Four Strikes You're Out

Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada

Nanaimo's BC Hockey League Clippers came up short last night against the Penticton Vees.  The contest was for top spot in the province.  The winner will go on to meet an Alberta team to decide the top western team.  Last year the Clippers were making that road trip, but four straight losses to the Vees put a stop to this year's ambitions.

Last night's game ended in a four nothing shutout.  There is always some dissatisfaction with the level of refereeing, but the Clippers were not the same team that saw them clinch the coastal championship.  At times it looked like their goalie was in an overtime shootout situation.  Both goalies were stars of the game with the Pentiction goalie doing such an exceptional job that the hometown fans, while disappointed with the game loss, applauded the young man's skill.

Loyal fans are already talking about the next season.
