Allen "The Answer" Iverson the bad-boy from Newport News, the "Tupac of the NBA", the tattoo thug that blings, the pratice, practice, practice, and did I say practice basketball superstar.

He's been branded many things by columnist, but Iverson will now be an Ambassador to the basketball and hip-hop culture fusion born in 1984 that is known now as The "Dunkadelic-Era" In America, 1984-Present. Iverson was the "Chosen One" to be the #1 all-time Most Influential Person of The "Dunkadelic-Era". It was something that was out of his control.

When Iverson was the 1st pick of the 1996 NBA Draft he was the first guard chosen #1 overall since Magic Johnson in 1979. 1979 was the same year that the Sugar Hill Gang released "Rappers Delight" the first major rap song in America. 1979 was also the same year that the Big East Conference was formed and Iverson went to Georgetown one of the original Big East schools, and became a star. The fusion of basketball and hip-hop had 5-years of seed growing before it's birth-year in 1984. The "Dunkadelic-Era" is celebrating its 25th Anniversary 1984-2009.

Iverson was drafted on June 26, 1984. If you look at the center point of The "Dunkadelic-Era" over its 25-year history since 1984, June 30, 1996 would be the even center point 12-years and 6 months into the era. Iverson being drafted is the most significant event of The "Dunkadelic-Era" closest to that date.

Iverson took up basketball in 1984 the birth-year of era when his mother persueded him to play the game when he 9-years old. A.I. said that basketball was soft he wanted to play football. Allen was an all-state quarterback at Bethel H.S. in Hampton, Virginia. He's stated in numerous interviews that Michael Jordan made him want to play the sport. He would get the nickname "The Answer" from a child-hood friend. Allen "The Answer" Iverson would become the answer to the question who's the #1 Most Inflential Player to The "Dunkadelic-Era" In America.

Iverson like Jordan had a signature shoe contract (Reebok) that loomed over the other NBA players. Now in his 13th season Iverson has passed the torch of the face of The "Dunkadelic-Era" to LeBron James. James like Iverson is the "Chosen One".  Allen has a 27.2 ppg. career scoring average 4th all-time behind Jordan, Chamberlain, and James.

The "Dunkadelic-Era" will be entering a new chapter for the next 25-years (2009-2034) when the era celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2034. During the next 25-years of The "Dunkadelic-Era" Iverson will be an icon symbol to the culture fusion that took the bouncing of the rock, and the beat of the street all the way to Wall Street, and back to hood to inspire the "Next" kid who might be up to good, and turn his life around and make himself an icon of the urban playground.

I like this story, Dunkadelic King23. I remember Iverson playing for Georgetown--he was fast and good! More recently, I moved to Philly the year that Iverson was traded to the Denver Nuggets from the Sixers. I won't forget the emotions vented in the Philly press...they were almost glad to see him gone but the general consensus was that AI contributed a lot to Phila., the team and the fans, but that it was time to move on.  The history of the AI era is still being written.
