Jake Cutler Trade: Star Quarterback Goes From Broncos to Bears
The much talked about Jake Cutler trade is now a done deal. Less than two days after it was announced in a press conference that Cutler was up for trade the Denver Broncos traded the unhappy quarterback to the Chicago Bears.
Jake Cutler didn't come cheap and he was a much sought after commodity. Other teams like the Detroit Lions and New York Jets wanted Cutler but now the Bears have him, let's see what they do with him.
The Bears were a surprise winner in the Cutler sweepstakes, but they paid an enormous price for a quarterback entering only his fourth year in the N.F.L. Chicago acquired Cutler and a fifth-round draft pick this year for quarterback Kyle Orton, the Bears’ starter at the end of last season; the Bears’ first-round draft pick in 2009 (No. 18 over all); their first-round pick in 2010; and a third-round pick this year.
Fan reaction was mixed. Many in Denver were happy to see Cutler leave the team that he so publicly disliked while others worried that the Broncos would falter without him. In Chicago the deal was met with equally mixed reactions.
At least one well known fan was happy with the Jake Cutler trade; Ashton Kutcher. Kutcher tweeted his joy shortly after the trade announcement was made.
While some folks are stoked that Cutler's been sent packing, there's just as many who are completely disillusioned and cursing the day that McDaniels got the nod to be the Bronco's new skipper. As word broke across the country, the news wasn't just playing with the emotions of those who live here. We came across one fellow in particular who's giddier than a school girl about picking up Cutler. From the looks of Ashton Kutcher's Twitter feed, dude is, well, absolutely twitterpated about the latest developments. "HOLY ANGEL FARTS," he tweets. "I'M SO FREAKING HAPPY THIS IS LIKE RIGHT UP THERE WITH MY WEDDING DAY"
While Culter was in negotiations with the team he even he did not expect a trade to happen this quickly. On Wednesday, before the trade to the Chicago Bears was finalized Jake Cutler told Fox News that he was not looking to leave the Denver Broncos so soon.
"I was surprised they decided to trade me this soon," Cutler told Glazer in his first comments since the statement was released. "I didn't want to get traded. This wasn't me. They [The Broncos] had been going back and forth saying things, wanting me to be their quarterback and then they didn't."
"I really didn't want this. I love Denver. I really like my teammates. I didn't want it to get this far."
