Jarkko Ruutu Bites Andrew Peters, Faces Suspension
Ottawa Senators forward Jarkko Ruutu will likely be suspended by the NHL after a fight where he appeared to have bitten Buffalo Sabres forward Andrew Peters.
The incident occurred after Peters rubbed his glove in Ruutu's face. Ruutu reacted by biting the Buffalo tough guy, piercing through Peters' glove and breaking the skin.
Despite video evidence and a cut on Peters' thumb, Ruutu denies biting anyone.
"Nothing happened there," Ruutu said after the game. "His fingers were by my mouth but I didn't bite him."
Ironically, it was Peters, who was penalized on the play, receiving a two-minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct. Ruutu did not receive a penalty at the time, but will likely face some disciplinary action from the NHL.

Ruutu was summoned to the NHL office to have a hearing over the phone with Colin Campbell.
Thhe hearing was set for 11:30 E.T. so we should find out more soon.
Since it's a phone hearing I don't expect the Avery paprazzi circus outside the offices in NYC when Sean went in to for his hearing with Campbell.

rumour has it biting happens a few times a season in the NHL. last year, there were 3 times it happened and once in the stanley cup finals. rarely does it get this much attention. Jarkko's rep has something to do with that. biting is just so inexcusable, where does a person start....

If biting is so inexcusable (and I don't disagree with you), why did he get a two game suspension for drawing blood while Avery got a six game suspension for opening his mouth? Which one of those really caused more damage to the league? A guy who talks too much or a guy who opens his mouth in order to bite someone. Come on Bettman, get your head out of that warm, dark and smelly orifice.

haha. don't get me started on Avery...his 6 game suspension was a slap in the face to every player who ever got hit from behind, received a concussion, was intentionally injured, and/or nearly died on the ice.

This photo happens to have been taken LAST season when Ruutu was with the Pittsburgh Penguins. I was sitting right behind the pens penalty box and he got called for agitating, roughing, hooking, being a pain in the ass. . . you know, all the stuff we really miss him for here in Pittsburgh.
