Jarrod Wyatt Admits to Killing Taylor Powell, Ripping Out His Heart

MMA fighter Jarrod Wyatt is in custody for the murder of Taylor Powell, his friend and training partner, in Crescent City, California. Wyatt and Powell had allegedly consumed tea made from hallucinogenic mushrooms before getting into a fight two others were present: Wyatt's ex-girlfriend, Billy Jo Bailey; and friend Justin Davis, who called 911 when the fight began.

All involved in the incident were under the influence of the psychedelic mushrooms.

Taylor Powell's Body Mutilated

Jarrod Wyatt ended up killing Taylor Powell, and, according to Wyatt, cut out Powell's heart and tongue. Jarrod Wyatt told police that he believed Powell to have been "possessed by the devil".

Jarrod Wyatt faces a first-degree murder charge, as well as charges of aggravated mayhem and torture. Wyatt's lawyers will argue that he suffered a psychotic break due to drug use.

The victim and the suspect, according to the testimony, became preoccupied with the idea that a tidal wave was coming, that the end of the world was upon them and that a struggle between God and the devil was taking place.

Lee also said that Wyatt admitted he had cooked the body parts in a wood stove at the Klamath residence because he thought that Powell was still alive and that he needed to "stop the devil."

i'm so sorry for your lost Mrs. Powell. i know it is indeed a truly difficult time for you. May your son have peace in heaven.. please be strong.. i read the article and i apologize for the way 'human' has made their way in the world today..that 'thing' has no rights to even touch your son..

Millions of people have taken magic mushrooms since the beginning of time and usually have profound spiritual experiences. In fact, John Hopkins university uses them in psychotherapy sessions. Persons with concurrent mental disorders should definitely avoid hallucinegens. Based on this gentleman's predisposition to violence, and the nature of his sport, it sounds like he was already pretty violent and psychotic. Most people either find fear or bliss. Mushrooms reveal what is really going on with a person. It appears that he was a psychopath. My heart goes out to the families involved. I pray light and peace fills your hearts. This gentleman was clearly suffering from mental illness and anger issues as is. It's unfortuante for everyone at the time. Any kind of substance use should be approached with double caution and even when drinking you should evaluate time, place, setting, people, dose, and yourself.

I sincerely doubt that his athletic endeavors have anything to do with his violent nature. All of the MMA fighters that I know, and yes, I know many, are disciplined, astute, and very regimented individuals. I do doubt that he would have been compelled to this action if he had never been taught the notions of god and satan. Perhaps instead of discouraging athletic discipline we should be discouraging teaching people about these myths as if they were factual things.

ok not sorry...really what difference does it make to you, i know who taylors mother is and how DARE you even think about asking a question like that "Why The Fawk did your son do drugs. anyWHOOOOO.. " i mean really?? either you are not old enough to have gone through your teen years and/or early 20's or you are not a parent or a very resonable or compasionate one. all kids do things we may not dissagree with, and we all personaly do things that others may not dissagree with. its not your job to judge.
