Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Jason Bartlett just got everyone in America a free taco. For the second year in a row fast-food chain Taco Bell has offered the "Steal a Base, Steal a Taco" promotion, where the chain offers free tacos to everyone for the first stolen base of the World Series.

This is the second years of the promotion. Last season, Boston Red Sox centerfielder Jacoby Ellsbury stole a base during his team's championship run.

The stolen base did more than give Americans free junk food. It also helped get him into scoring position, allowing him to score on a hit by teammate Akinori Iwamura.

No doubt, though, that Bartlett will live on as a legend in the minds of many for his seemingly simple, yet very difficult task. Mark my words: One day, we will tell tales of how he once turned two cleats and 90-feet of basepath into a meal for millions. Many thanks, Mr. Bartlett. You are a hero for the ages.

If you're in the US, you can claim your free taco on Tuesday, October 28 between 2 and 6 pm. If you go, make sure to tip your hat to Jason Bartlett.

Good marketing strategy by Taco Bell. I wonder how many people actually go and get their free Taco.

This was a classic night at T-Bell in Union Square NYC. There were a lot of people taking post-burrito naps at about 2-3am.

Jon Azpiri, I like this story. It's good stuff.  Who wouldn't like a free Dr. Pepper and Taco, too bad we have to wait nearly a month between giveaways.  I wonder what the cost of this advertising ploy is to the two companies.

The Tacos may be great and free but what about the bad publicity Jason is getting because of his "marketing agent" Elite Sports Marketing. I purchased a Jason Bartlet "game used baseball bat" at the 2009 Rays fan fest, and I am still waiting for my certificate of authenticity or a letter of authenticity. The name of the company that I purchased it from was ELITE SPORTS MARKETING. I have e-mailed (2 times) phone called (4 times) and have been promised by the "president of the company" (Scott) that it would be mailed that same day........ I'm still waiting. I am not sure at this point if this is a real Jason Bartlet product or if Elite Sports is a legit business that has the rights to be your agent. I feel like I got ripped off. Is it possible that Elite Sports is selling counterfit sports items at the Tropicana Field? Thanks Jason!  You may want to have your marketing manager check into this one.
